Air Experience Flying

On Sunday 30th January 2005, 188 Squadron sent 10 cadets, including a corporal to RAF Wyton to go flying in a Grob Tutor. Attendees included:

Corporal Pugh;
Cadet Parsely M;
Cadet Parsley C;
Cadet Steward;
Cadet Thompson;
Cadet Reynolds;
Cadet Cates;
Cadet Fenton;
Cadet Williams;
Cadet Ellis.

For some this was their first experience of flying and many undertook aerobatic manouevres. Although some thick cloud prevented a few of the cadets from flying above cloud level everybody had a good time and enjoyed the day.

Wing Sports Trials

On Sunday 16 January 2005, 188 (Ipswich) Squadron sent 14 cadets to the Wing sports trials at RAF Honington. Available sports included open hockey, junior netball (girls), boys open football and boys junior rugby. Ipswich boasts 8 qualifiers for the Wing teams:

Lads

* Cpl Charles, 16, boys open football and boys junior rugby;
* Cpl Pugh, 15, boys open football and boys junior rugby;
* Cpl Cook, 15, boys junior rugby;
* Cdt E Squirrell, 15, boys open football and boys junior rugby;
* Cdt M Parsley, 15 boys junior rugby;
* Cdt Fenton, 16 boys junior rugby.

Girls

* Cdt Thompson, 15, junior netball;
* Cdt C Parsley, 13, junior netball.

Although 6 cadets failed to qualify, they did equally as well as the qualifiers and set the judges a difficult task in who to leave out this time round.
