On Sunday 20th February 18 cadets took part in a Squadron-organised march at Rendlesham Forest. This was a practice for the grueling Spitfire March at Folkestone, Kent near to the Channel Tunnel. Even though the Spitfire March is either a 15 or 25 mile walk depending on the cadets preference, the walk around Rendlesham was about 6 miles just for the experience of it and help in the build up to longer distances.

Corporals Pugh and Charles and Cadet Charlotte Parsley travelled up to Coltishall to take part in the Wing Sport events. The two corporals played a very successful two games of football, winning both 3-1. As a result of this the boys won a gold medal and Cpl Pugh went on to be selected for Regional trials.
Meanwhile, Cdt Parsley was playing in the hockey team. The team played very well and the match ended as a draw and had to be settled by a penalty shootout. Unfortunately, Norfolk & Suffolk Wing lost on this despite playing a good game.
Everyone enjoyed the day even if the weather was bitterly cold.

Another exciting event for 188 (Ipswich) Squadron on Saturday 5th February 2005 as 3 cadets attended a day of gliding at MDP Weathersfield. It was a new experience for all of them as they had never felt the wind beneath them in a Viking glider before. Cadet Brindle, aged 13 was quoted “It was great! I did a stall and it took my breath away.” Cadets Ruddock and Chatfield said they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and would love to go again.
