We are very pleased to announce that Awards for All has agreed to award a grant for £5000 to 188 (Ipswich) Squadron, Air Training Corps. The grant was awarded for camping equipment, buoyancy aids and base station radio units.
A large portion of the grant will be used to support the Squadron’s adventure training and Duke of Edinburgh Award activities. The tents, sleeping bags, rucksacks, outer clothing and safety equipment selected by the Squadron Adventure Training Technical Officer will be enough to equip 8 cadets undertaking the activities on offer through the Squadron’s Adventure Training Plan for 2005 and beyond as well as Bronze, Silver and hopefully Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award Expeditions as the younger cadets work through the scheme.
The Officer Commanding 188 Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Peter Coles:
QUOTE
“I am very pleased for the cadets and their parents that the Squadron has been awarded this grant as we are now in a position to equip our cadets with good quality equipment suitable for use in the Welsh mountains where the majority of our advanced training and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions are held.”
The Squadron’s power boating activities will get a boost with the purchase of its own buoyancy aids and communications between activity teams and base, as well as other squadrons will be enhanced also.
