ATC Sunday Parade

ATC Sunday is a compulsory parade to celebrate the founding of the Air Training Corps on 5th February 1941 and is subsequently held on the closest Sunday by cadets across Britain every year. Ipswich is no exception and our parade took part on Sunday 8th February at Whitton church where the Squadron Padre, Revd. Andrew Dotchin, usually takes mass. Unfortunately this year he was unable to perform the duty as he was on sabbatical in South Africa and instead the service was presided over by the assistant Priest of Whitton church, Revd. Mary Sokanovic.
The whole squadron arrived at 9.30am for a quick inspection and a run through of the service, it was then into the church where the Squadron Banner was displayed for the hymns and prayers, which also included an interesting sermon involving a jar of dirt and lots of mess. Afterwards there was of course plenty of delicious tea and cake supplied by the generous church members and a very competitive game of table football (between the staff and cadets which the cadets unsurprisingly won).
