Firers on the firing point

3 cadets from the Squadron joined 10 other from around Norfolk & Suffolk Wing to get a chance to fire the Corps full bore rifles.  It was an early start leaving the TA Centre in Ipswich at 0730 hrs for the journey by minibus to the Thetford ranges.

Once there the cadets were spilt in to firing details and giving the various safety briefings allowing them to fire on the range.  Following on from that the weapons were prepared for firing and those that need some refresher training were put through their paces.  The two weapons used were the L98 A1, 5.56 mm and the L81 A2, 7.62 mm target rifle and for some it was the first time for seeing the L81 A2, but the characteristics are similar to the No.8 0.22 rifle they fire back on their own Squadrons.

The weather for the day was kind and no rain was forecast and no rain came, although there was the odd dark cloud, which looked menacing at times.  All in all a good days shooting with all the cadets managing to shot the L98 A1 and some getting the chance to shot the L81 A2 target rifle before we ran out of time and the days shoot had to come to an end.

You will find many photos of the days shoot in the gallery, so feel free to browse at your leisure.
