Setting off in the small hours of the morning towards MDP Wethersfield, three cadets accompanied by CI Abbey Goodchild were looking forward to a long days gliding in the Viking aircraft. Upon arrival at the airfield they received a briefing on how the day was setup and the weather conditions. The ususal safety videos were shown, and there was a tour around the aircraft showing all the instrumentation and controls.

The day then consisted of the cadets, along with the other Squadrons that attended retrieving, launching and flying in the gliders. Whilst in the air, the cadets were shown how the aircraft reacts in different conditions and what the instruments relate to. Most cadets received three flights and as they progressed in each flight they would have learnt more and more until it was there turn to have ago at the controls, under the supervision of the pilot of course.

At the end of the day the gliders were parked back in the hanger and were cleaned down, before the covers were replaced ready for there next adventure.

You can find photos of the day in the Gallery.
