D of E Award Scheme
The Air Cadet Organisation is the largest single operator of the D of E Award Scheme. In fact the first person to get a Gold award was an Air Cadet.
The Award Scheme is recognised by most employers. In addition to the expedition side of the award you can also get involved in citizenship training, sport, community service and learn lots of new skills. If you thought it was all camping and mountains you can think again.
As you can see not all expeditions are on foot.
There are three levels in the award, Bronze, Silver and Gold, each a separate entity. The majority of our squadron are at present partaking at the bronze level of the D of E award scheme, although we do have some cadets entered at the silver level of the award. It’s sometimes hard work, but it’s always great fun.
