Camps

There are many different types of camp in the Air Cadets. The highlight of a cadets’ year is the annual camp on a UK RAF station.

Annual Camp

Last year our squadron took part in various camps throughout the year. Many spent the a week at RAF Sealand were they lived and worked alongside the regular Air Force staff. In addition to finding out about the various trades in the RAF (helpful if you are considering a career in the RAF) they also got the opportunity to do a huge variety of other activities, including Flying, Hill Walking, Shooting, Ten Pin Bowling and much more.

In addition to the UK camps there are also overseas camps of which we have cadets who have been to Gibraltar, Cyprus and Germany to name but a few. The squadron also partakes in Leadership and Training Camps where you can learn rock climbing, abseiling, practical leadership and are tested on their initiative skills. The biggest camp of this type for us last year was a trip to Browndown. Once there we were housed in the same accommodation used during the filming of the Television show ‘Bad Lads Army’ for the six days, while taken on various leisure and leadership activities.

It should be good again this year.
